TEHRAN - Majlis Speaker Mahdi Karrubi on Wednesday stressed the need to complete the railway network between Tehran and its suburbs. During a visit to the different parts of the Tehran and its suburbs railway stations, he praised the efforts undertaken by the metro officials in implementing of the gigantic project. In a religious system based on the principles of the democracy, the officials should try to provide a high social welfare for the people, he added. He stated that the metro project, once completed, would contribute to alleviation of the air pollution in the capital and its heavy traffic. Some 2,000 billion rials plus 800 million dollars have so far been spent on the Tehran underground train network project. (IRNA)
